Estonian Refugee Council launches a series of events for mental health professionals to enhance psychological support for refugees
Within the framework of the Estonian Refugee Council mental health project, a three-part workshop will take place in the autumn. It is aimed at psychologists/psychiatrists and other mental health specialists who may come into contact with refugees in their work and would like to improve themselves in this field. Mads Ted Drud-Jensen from Denmark and Antti Klemettilä from Finland, who specialize in promoting the mental health of refugees, will be sharing their knowledge and experience.
In Estonia, the provision of needs-based psychological assistance to refugees has encountered linguistic and cultural obstacles and prejudices; the training helps to shed light on the problem and also to create a network of people interested in the topic.
Venue: ONLINE
The workshop will take place on October 21, November 4, November 18, 2021, every day from 13:00 to 15:30 in English and the topics are as follows:
1. Giving context: resettlement and refugees - the challenges of staying in a new country
2. Methods and tools: working with refugees on mental health and trauma
3. Approaches: intercultural competences and interdisciplinary cooperation
