Let's meet - Ann Margit, Estonian Refugee Council volunteer

15.07.2022

Ann Margit, 29, became a volunteer of the Estonian Refugee Council after the invitation of her friend on February 28th. She was one of the first members of the data-processing team that brought order to the flooded system of proposals for help and cooperation, allowing the right people to find each other. In the first few weeks, she spent six hours a day working on this, which allowed our consultants to act faster.

As a founder and marketing manager for a Tartu technology company, Ann Margit enjoys living life to the fullest – traveling frequently, visiting good restaurants, sailing, as well as spending time with the people who matter most to her. She spent her bachelor years in Switzerland studying event management. As a volunteer of the Estonian Refugee Council, she learned more and more to appreciate Estonia and her compatriots: “Since the beginning of the war, we received about 500 offers of help every day, and this proved how good and caring Estonians are.”

As an already seasoned volunteer work enthusiast, she loves meeting new people: “Volunteers are amazing people with a twist who beckon you to work with them on diverse projects.” She is grateful that by volunteering with the Estonian Refugee Council during the escalation of the war, she was able to redirect the arisen fear and panic into something good.
