Most refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya come from Somalia (54%), followed by South Sudan (24.5%), DRC, Ethiopia, Burundi, Sudan, Uganda, and others. People who fled their homeland make up 6.7% of Kenya's total population, or 515,500 people, as of March 2021. There are two large refugee camps in Kenya: the Dadaab camp in the eastern part of the country, where people who have fled mainly from Somalia (more than 200,000 refugees) live, and the Kakuma camp in the northwestern part of the country, where people who have mainly fled from the conflicts in Sudan live (as of April 2021, 206,331 refugees). Almost half of the Kenyan refugees live in these two camps, 44% and 40%, respectively. 16% of refugees are in urban areas (mainly in the capital Nairobi). 76% of the total number of refugees are women and children.

In Kenya, in partnership with Action Africa Help International (AAHI), we support entrepreneurial people who want to start their businesses in the Kakuma refugee camp and the Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement. In addition, we conduct life skills workshops for young people, support refugees in developing digital skills, and purchase necessary equipment (e.g., water pumps and generators) for an agricultural cooperative to alleviate problems caused by drought.
