Lebanon
Lebanon has received around 1.5 million Syrian refugees scattered across the country. Most of them live in cities (including abandoned houses) and informal tent cities, where living conditions, employment and education opportunities are deficient. Refugees have mostly settled in areas where there were already serious socio-economic problems.
In Lebanon, in cooperation with local partner Sawa for Development & Aid, we are supporting vulnerable Syrian refugees by setting up the social enterprise Master Peace and providing in-service training in three areas (carpentry, sewing and weaving). We also responded to the Beirut blast of 2020 and are helping to rehabilitate the affected neighbourhoods.
