Women who have participated in the Ukrainian entrepreneurship programme: you have to be creative when internally displaced

The Estonian Refugee Council, together with its co-operation partners, has been organizing entrepreneurship programmes for women in Ukraine since 2019, on its own also earlier. The programme is intended primarily for those who have lost their income because of the war and who wish to become micro or small entrepreneurs.

  • In cooperation with Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, we started implementing multi-purpose cash assistance in Poltava, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad oblasts. In these areas, 4000 people receive 70€ per family member multi-purpose cash assistance for three months.

Let’s meet – Kirill, Estonian Refugee Council volunteer

Born in Estonia and raised in Tallinn, 32-year-old Kirill is like a chameleon who can quickly adapt to different situations and organizations, and reorganize his work and activities if necessary. He started his journey as a volunteer in February and works exactly where he is most needed - whether answering the information line or providing group and individual consultations both at the Estonian Refugee Council office and across all Estonia.

  • We handed out 4600 sleeping bags in Zaporizhia, Chernihiv and Mykolaiv oblasts.

The Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia Donated a Million Dollars to the Estonian Refugee Council to Support Ukrainian War Refugees

Today, we signed a cooperation agreement with the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, which supports the Estonian activities of the Estonian Refugee Council with one million dollars. The donation will be used to carry out group counselling and to arrange counselling services both in our office and where needed across Estonia. Read more about group counselling. The activities will run until the end of January 2023.

Let’s meet – Sandra, Estonian Refugee Council volunteer

Sandra grew up in Tallinn, but has moved to the countryside for her children’s wellbeing. She loves changes and working on several projects simultaneously. Joined the volunteer team in March, she gives information in Estonian via the help-line once a week. Staying active helps Sandra keep her mind calm and spirits high: „I like to think that I balance the energy of the universe with goodness.“

Eight Foreigners Living in Estonia Sing Their Migration Stories on an Album Produced in Cooperation Between the Estonian Refugee Council and Estonian Musicians

The album “Kuula mu loo kõla!” (Listen to the Sound of My Story!) by the Estonian Refugee Council and Estonian musicians opens a window to the world of eight young foreigners who have started a new life in Estonia. The record draws attention to the joys and challenges faced by people with refugee and migration backgrounds in a new environment.
