Touching video: see what happens when Estonians and other nationalities share their deepest fears and dreams

In autumn in Tallinn, by the request and with the assistance of the Estonian Refugee Council, a Lebanese director brought to life a video, which brings together people of different nationalities, backgrounds and skin colours to say: we have more in common than one might think judging by the surface.

"Let's Get to Know Each Other" events on a map: see which countries were the people from who conducted 45 workshops

During two years, from November 2019 to November 2021, Estonian Refugee Council and Siin & Sääl organized together with partners as part of the "Let's get to know each other" project a total of 45 events all over Estonia, where foreigners living in Estonia (including beneficiaries of international protection) and locals met. The aim of the meetings is to increase the sense of unity of local communities and the openness to people with migrant backgrounds and, in turn, their active participation in community events.

Young foreigner in Estonia - let’s put your story into a song!

We are looking for young adults, who have moved to Estonia from elsewhere, have a desire to learn how to create music and willingness to share their story related to migration and settling in in a new environment. If you recognize yourself, you are welcome to apply in the workshops, led by professional musicians, with a goal to create your very own song!

The project “Sound of my story!” is run by the Estonian Refugee Council in cooperation with Tõun (Jäääär) and other musicians.

Estonians support victims of the Beirut explosion: read what happened in a Lebanese woman's shop

Fourth of August 2020. The explosion in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, destroyed a third of the entire city. Immediately after that, Estonian Refugee Council collected 10,155 euros in donations from Estonians. The donations were forwarded to the local partner organization Sawa for Development & Aid, which did the rescue work immediately after the the explosion. Here is one of the beneficiary stories.

Estonian Refugee Council launches a series of events for mental health professionals to enhance psychological support for refugees

Within the framework of the Estonian Refugee Council mental health project, a three-part workshop will take place in the autumn. It is aimed at psychologists/psychiatrists and other mental health specialists who may come into contact with refugees in their work and would like to improve themselves in this field. Mads Ted Drud-Jensen from Denmark and Antti Klemettilä from Finland, who specialize in promoting the mental health of refugees, will be sharing their knowledge and experience.
